Color draping online.

Open a selfie and hold two colors under your face at once, the way a color analyst does with fabric. Your photo never leaves your device.

Face the camera in window light, hair pulled back, no makeup, shoulders in the frame.

Can't decide between two? Undertona analyzes your selfie and tells you which of the 12 seasons you are.

How to drape yourself from a photo

  1. Start with warm or cool. It is the biggest difference and the easiest to see. Decide it before anything else.
  2. Move the drape up to your jaw. Use the height slider so the color sits right under your chin, where fabric would.
  3. Look at your skin, not the color. Check the area around your mouth, under your eyes and along your jaw.
  4. Then test bright or soft, and light or deep. Together with warm or cool, those three answers point to your color season.
  5. Compare season palettes last. Put your two most likely seasons side by side and step through their colors.

What the right drape does

The right color reflects light back onto your face that matches your undertone, so skin looks even and smooth and your eyes stand out. The wrong one adds a cast your skin does not have: grey or green on warm skin from icy colors, yellow or orange on cool skin from golden ones. If you are still unsure after draping, the undertone test and the color analysis quiz ask about signs a photo cannot show.

Color draping FAQ

What is color draping?

Holding fabrics of different colors under your face, one after another, to see which ones make your skin look even, your eyes bright and shadows softer. It is the method color analysts use in person to find your season. This tool does the same with colors on screen around your photo.

Can you do color draping online?

Yes, as a first pass. Use a photo taken in daylight with no makeup, compare two colors at a time, and look at your skin rather than the color. Screens and cameras shift color, so treat close calls with care and confirm them in daylight with real fabric if you can.

What am I looking for when I compare drapes?

In the right color, skin looks smoother and more even, dark circles and redness fade, and your eyes look clearer. In the wrong one, skin looks grey, yellow or blotchy, shadows deepen around the mouth and eyes, and the color is the first thing you notice instead of your face.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Your browser opens the photo on your device. Nothing on this page sends it anywhere, saves it or runs it through a model.
