Color season basics
What is seasonal color analysis?
Seasonal color analysis groups natural coloring into seasons based on three qualities: undertone (warm or cool), depth (light or deep) and chroma (bright or soft). Colors that share your qualities make your skin look even and your eyes brighter.
Why are there 12 seasons instead of 4?
The original four seasons were split into three each by their dominant quality. For example, Summer became Light Summer, Cool Summer and Soft Summer. Twelve seasons give more accurate palettes, especially for people between two of the original four.
How do I find my color season?
Start with your undertone, then judge whether your coloring is light or deep and bright or soft. The free color analysis quiz walks through those questions, and comparing flattering and unflattering colors side by side in daylight confirms the result.
Can my color season change?
Your underlying coloring stays the same, but hair color, tanning and aging can shift which neighboring season looks best. Many people move toward a softer sister season as their hair greys.
